Just A Cowboy Media

Where Rodeo Stories Are Told In The Light They Deserve

From Legends to Rising Stars

More Than Just Rodeo Coverage

Just A Cowboy Media was created to tell the stories that don’t always get told. Rodeo athletes put in the work long before they nod their head in the chute, and those moments deserve recognition.

Through podcasts and live interviews, we give people a closer look at the grit, discipline, and heart behind Western sports.

This brand focuses on authenticity. It respects tradition while also giving athletes the spotlight they’ve earned.

For the Rodeo Community

Whether you’re an athlete, a fan, a family member, or just someone who appreciates the Western lifestyle, this platform was built for you.

If you value hard work, resilience, and tradition, you’re in the right place.

Inspiration Behind the Brand

Just A Cowboy Media was just an idea a few years ago. Let me tell you the story.

The idea came to me when I interviewed my uncle, Jason McClain, a six-time National Finals Rodeo bull-riding qualifier, for a school project. He was in Ogden at a rodeo with his daughter, so it worked out perfectly for me to drive there from Logan, where I was going to school at Utah State University.

I set up my camera and had him sit on the back of the bucking chutes. During the interview, we talked about who he is and how he is now retired from bull-riding and teaching young bull-riders. Jason is someone who knows the ins and outs of bull-riding—the highs and the lows, the physical demand, and the pain. Jason knows no quit. From broken legs, a shattered face, and even a broken neck, he has been severely injured throughout his career, but that did not stop him from chasing his dreams. Jason is someone that not just me, but other young people in the rodeo world look up to.

When I asked Jason what his occupation was, I was expecting him to say something along the lines of being a cowboy—which he did. But his response was so much more than a simple phrase. He said, in the calmest, most humble way, “I’m just a cowboy.”

You are probably thinking, “What more is there to that?” Well, the life of a cowboy isn’t easy. It’s long nights on the road. It’s physically demanding. It’s dangerous. It’s painful. It’s being away from your family, trying to make a living to provide for them—and so much more. This life is thrilling and full of adventure, and Jason knows all of that very well.

He told me he wanted to be somebody, so he worked hard to chase his dreams, and he made a name for himself. Yet, after all of that, in his mind, he is “just a cowboy.” This classy humbleness is something that I think is stamped all over the cowboy way of life. Cowboys tend to carry this demeanor with them. What they do for a living is amazing to us from the outside, but to them it’s just another day doing what they love.

So, from my uncle’s response, Just A Cowboy Media was born.

Creatives Behind the Brand

Kinsey Bitterman, creator of Just A Cowboy Media, smiling standing by a glass wall

Hello! My name is Kinsey Bitterman! I am from Kiowa, Colorado. I grew up involved in agriculture my whole life. I have helped my grandparents run a small cattle operation, I showed pigs for ten years, and competed in working ranch horse competitions through 4-H. In high school, I was also involved in FFA, where I held multiple chapter officer positions, and competed in two varsity sports.

I decided to pursue my passion for the agricultural industry in college. I began my studies at Utah State University in 2022 and just finished my senior year with an Agricultural Communications bachelor’s degree and a Journalism bachelor’s degree. I have always loved to be creative, and I believe that my degrees have guided and allowed me to both pursue my passion in agriculture and the Western lifestyle and to express my creativity.
